Sleep Apnea is a serious medical condition in which one stops breathing during sleep. It can occur in children and adults and can contribute to many diseases - even shortening one’s life. Some signs of sleep apnea include snoring, gasping for air and daytime sleepiness. Up to 20 percent of adults suffer from sleep apnea and 90 percent of them go undiagnosed. Sleep apnea increases the risk of many serious medical conditions including stroke, heart attack, depression, diabetes, hypertension, and sleepy dangerous drivers...it can be deadly and the possibility of its presence must not be ignored.

Treatment

A popular treatment for sleep apnea is CPAP therapy (Continuous Positive Air Pressure). While very effective, many patients find it undesirable and are not compliant. Another effective treatment is with a mandibular advancement device to hold your lower jaw forward, physically opening your airway.
